The
12 Keys to Grow in Spiritual Living

Evangelist Manycoloured Manley Nowaseb – See the World through
the Spirit
The master of
spirituality and spiritual living here on earth, is Jesus Christ our Saviour,
hence he says, I am the way the truth and life, no one comes to the Father
accept through me.
If you have read
some of my previous writings, you will understand how Jesus Christ had his life
on earth pre-planned, displayed through prophesy by Moses and many
generations later, Jesus Christ came in the flesh, to portray the prophesy
which was illustrated through Moses, yet the reality of it is still coming to
be seen in the fullness of spirituality glory.
After Jesus Christ,
I have learned of great men which were trusted by God to carry out and minister
the Holy Gospel, man like Paul, John, Peter, Stephan, Ananias, Phillip, Timothy
etc… They were spiritually directed and had their lives set simply to do the
works of God, their eyes where very much on the cross and so everything that
they have said was given to them through Christ. Amen!
I have walked in
our time as well and I have learned of such men and women and I praise God that we are
blessed to have them among us. They are also in your society if you look well,
spiritually focused people which live their earthly time through spiritual view.
Here under I give
you a glimpse to how you can see them or how you can as well live a life of
growth in spiritual living;
1.
Confess
Christ & Proclaim our Believe
Growth in spiritual living starts the moment we proclaiming
Jesus Christ and confessing that he is the Son of God. It is the base step we take to
be born again. We must first confess Christ and believe in him, because that
is the foundation of repentance. The son of God must first touch you and make a
miracle in your life so that you can confess and proclaim him, which brings
completion in repentance.
Remember
the ten men healed of leprosy have called on Jesus and believed he would healed
them and he did and told them to go show themselves to the council of the Jews (that
was the first foundation of repentance) but only one came back and the bible
says he was cleaned in full (the completion of repentance).
2.
Repent,
Be Born Again
The above works in hand with repentance through baptism - being born again! When
the time was right, Jesus Christ came to John the Baptist to be baptized in the
Jordan River. The significance of repentance and to be born again is highlighted
in many parts of the bible. In John 3:3, Jesus declares, “I tell you the truth,
no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again” the meaning of that
is because all spirituality comes from the kingdom of God, so in order to access
the resources of heaven we must be transformed to the likeness of heavenly
beings, which is spirituality. Therefore Jesus further teach Nicodemus in John
3:5; “I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is
born of water and the Spirit.” So repentance or to be born again give us the
approval and access to enter the kingdom of God.
3.
Fasting,
Isolation in Prayer
After
he was baptized Jesus went into the wilderness to fast. He isolated himself
from the world to get empowered in the spirit. Fasting, which is to restrain
from meals and sometimes from consuming drinks is a metaphor of spiritual concentration,
yet isolation in prayer (with out fasting) has also proven as a working technique to search for
spiritual empowerment. The act of moving out of our normal spectrum (the world
we exist in) is key here, because it allow us to focus in divinity and to feel the
presence of Christ. Every believer and follower of Christ must at some point
enter such a time of fasting and isolation in prayer because it builds the
spirit and form courage of overcome all evil.
4.
Worship
(Sing and Dance)
The
bible says David would dance in worship, Moses sang in worship and Jesus had
prayed in worship. Worship is one of the fundamental rules of creating contact
with God. It is the root of spiritual empowerment. You see the God we serve is
a God that desire nothing less, nothing more, but to be worship. To hear our
songs, prayers, dances, claps and shouts in worship delights God to be willing
to give us all the more in what we already have, therefore if you want to grow spiritually,
give praise and worship to God and you will see the blessings of spiritual growth will come down.
5.
Read
the Bible
The
bible is a resourceful book, period! Someone once said if you read too much of
the bible, you will go insane, on the contrary reading the bible is wisdom for
us. The point is many people read the bible so that the bible will answer our lives
concerns like immediately, so you just turn to a page and expect God would say “problem
solved.”
No!
We should read the bible like we read a textbook. We use a textbook along with an
assignment or exercise, meaning the bible is a reference book aimed to give us techniques
to reach solutions, such as making wise decisions. Will you be surprised that
the US government is built on bible principles and so it has remained one of
the most powerful economy's since its existence and would have remained so if only
the government had seek wisdom for its solutions in the bible again rather than
in human wisdom as it is today.
6.
Willingness
to Share the Word of God
One
thing that makes anyone sharp and powerful in spirituality and in understanding
the Gospel better is when we share with others the word of God. You must hear
the opinion of others to revert back to the bible and get the answers to speak
solutions for them. Arguing is not what I mean here, but sometimes it is good
to have debates on biblical point of view, reasoning on something can often
enlarge our terrain of understanding. Remember the three man given talents, the
one that saved his talent could not give a better offer for his master, but the
two that used it, got more out of it and gave a better offer to their master.
We
must be willing to share, preach, teach the word of God, not just have it in us
and not bring it into practice, remember the word is God sharing it with others
is like sharing God with them and that is the duty of this gospel.
7.
Find
your Calling & Imitate it
Everybody
has a calling, and there is a gift in everyone. A gift to build the house of
God (spiritually). The bible has presented to us over a thousand characters –people
from the bible- which was called by God. Look deep in yourself and find the
spirit that is within you and see if there is anyone in the bible that
reference your type of spirit in order to resemble the character of that person
in our time. Focus on the good things they have done and work hard to correct
their mistakes they did, because that is what the bible is all about, that we
must bring perfection and completion of the gospel of grace.
On
the contrary, I remember someone in our time said, instead of having historical
role models, we must choose the people in our time as role models and I don’t have
a problem with that, it’s just that they don’t see that everything in the
present time is imitating the history/future of the bible, because the bible is being
fulfilled through us, still someone else said let us not duplicate things that
already exist.
8.
Join
in Holy Communion
Many
followers of Christ including some of the 72 disciples have turned away from
the son of God, when he said, I am the bread you must eat my body and drink of my
blood. You see, Jesus says by eating the Holy Communion we are being connected
with him and he remains part of us, as we do it in remembrance of him. The Holy
Communion is an important sacrament for spiritual growth because it empowers,
approves and put us in power of the exact position we are when you share in
it.
For
example, unlike all the other disciples that ate the last supper with the
Christ to be empowered in their duty to preach the gospel of God, Judas Iscariot
was empowered in deceiving the Christ, that is why he could not reverse from being
the trader. It is therefore recommended that your conscious must be clean in
order to empower the goodness in you rather than the sin. If you find yourself
at peace, it is a good time to share in the Holy Communion.
9.
Honor
God
My
original title for this point was, “Do not disappoint God” but I had to revert
it to Honor God because that speaks out loud. What I had in mind with do not
disappoint God was that, many times we are believers and saints yet we are too
fast to fall away from the Gospel. I mean we are too fast to disappoint the
same God that gave us his only son, to be crucified so that we can be saved
through that grace. We must honor God, nothing must cause us to fall away in
sin. We must have a mindset that always wants to please Jesus and Honor God. We
must orientate ourselves to be willing to listen to the voice of God, through
the Spirit and God will enlarge our terrain of spirituality.
Seek your spiritual growth in showing honor, respect and fear of God all the time, never see to disappoint your Lord!
10.
Faith
in the Gospel of the Cross
We
got this grace through the cross. This gospel was not for the gentiles, but rather
for Israel’s descendants only. Israel is the name of Jacob, however because of Jacob’s
grandfather Abraham, whom God swore to, because of his faith, we have been introduce
to this gospel through Apostle Paul, the servant of Jesus. We must therefore remain
in the same faith that Abraham had and must remind ourselves constantly of what
Jesus Christ has done for us on the Cross, so that the Spirit he promised us, which
is already with us, must remain with us and even teach us about the spiritual
plan of God. If we disregard the blood of the cross and consider it no more,
our walk as Christians is worthless. We must consider us lucky and use this
attachment to God as a mere gift that we are not privileged to have, that kind of approach will make us have more than trophies and crowns in heaven, because
God is pleased by those that disregard themselves and see the worth of what His Son has done, because He Himself Glorifies the Lamp to a seat on the right hand of Him, by His Throne.
11.
Laying
of Hands
Seek
to be blessed as you walk this journey by learning from what the bible has
showed us. Many times we meet strong believers like the once I have referred to
above, but we the Christians of this day do not do what those in that time did.
We are self-important.
Elisha
kept on seeking the blessings of Elijah even when it looks like it was a dead
end.
Isaac
battled for blessings from God, by wrestling with a man overnight and received
it at day break. David seek blessings from God by humbling himself to Samuel
the servant of God. Paul received the blessings by laying of head by the
prophets before he went into the Corinth’s. If you see a believer in Christ as
servant of God worthy to his call in God ask them to bless you to grow in your
spirit, or is that not what we do when we see our aged people, we ask them to
bless us with the gray hair as well, how much more will our hair grow gray if
we seek the blessing from God.
12.
Serve
and Love
The
glory of God is seen by those who serve, by those who humble themselves and by
those that show love and grace. It is not by mistake that Christ says the
greatest commandment is to love one another. The reason that Jesus is crowned
higher than angels in the heaven is because of how he humbled himself, served
as a man unworthy, yet he loved us and was showing his grace unto us, to the
point of saying “Father forgive them for they know not what they are doing”
while the nails were placed in his hands and feed.
If
you think you are blessed more than the others in spirit it means you have
greater wisdom and calling, therefore it is your duty to lower yourself and
serve as if you were the least, because living like that will secure your place
in heaven, yes that is like foolishness to man but is the wisdom of God and
human wisdom will never understand it.
Finally in
everything you do, everything you learn and whatever secrets and talents the
spirit of God present to you avoid to be conceited and boastful. The things
that we learn through the spirit of God are for the preparation of ourselves and
for the church of God to enter into the coming kingdom of God.
Be humble, remember
point twelve, because it includes all the above. Amen!
God Bless! Much Love!
